Many people access services from multiple sectors, and interventions or outcomes in one area, whether they be theraputic, supportive, or corrective, commonly have positive or negative consequences for interventions and outcomes in other areas. Although this interdependence is well-known, truly integrative approaches have been slow to appear. Through our Leadership Gathering event series, an expert panel leads participants in discussions around a number of key questions to improve the coordination of complex service delivery.

Working Across Sectors to Focus on the Person: North American Examples

Our upcoming Leadership Gathering session continues to focus on the question of bridging differing mandates and structures within the health, justice, and social sectors to bring the person’s holistic needs and outcomes into focus. The webinar will focus on two examples: the Peer Assisted Crisis Team (PACT) program developed by the Canadian Mental Health Association BC Division; and the Massachusetts Community Justice Project (MCJP) led by the Executive Office of the Trial Court of Massachusetts.

Lived Experience, Substance Use, and Person-Centered Service

Through our February webinar, a peer-facilitated panel kindly shared their lived experience of seeking services and support. Keeping the focus on lived experience, the April session takes a deeper look into the current operational environment across the social, health, and justice sectors.

Lived Experience - Connections & Mental Health

Focused on the theme “Lived Experience - Connections and Gaps”, our February Leadership Gathering panel discussion features people with firsthand experience seeking support and experiencing the gaps and inconsistencies of the “service ecosystem” for people with complex needs. Panelists also have expertise as peer mentors and direct service providers, working to support others navigate these systems.

Crisis & Innovation: A Series of Roundtable Discussions on Service Delivery in the Pandemic

In the summer of 2020, we hosted a series of web-based roundtables that brought together leaders from the public and non-profit sectors to discuss the nature of challenges related to complex service delivery, the emergence of alternatives, and the future of social, health, and justice systems in BC. Each session focused on a specific area of service delivery.
